Calling all creatives and curious people!
As I talk to people and set up staff trainings and seminars, I've been getting a better sense of who is really looking for social media training. Artists are looking, as I've learned through my private lessons, but so are curious, regular people.
With that in mind, I've scheduled two new webinar series for the fall. One is simply Social Media Basics with no niche focus. It is for small business owners, retirees, college students, clergy, teachers and anyone curious about getting a foundation in social media skills.
The second is for creative folks and performers. We'll talk a lot about what my other clients are doing in the arts and what you can do to build relationships with fans.
Both will take place for one hour on Wednesdays from September 30 to November 4, 2009. The Social Media Basics will be from 1PM to 2PM Central and the class for Creative Folks will be from 3PM to 4PM. The syllabus follows the same schedule as the other classes, but each will be customized for the audience.
Are you interested in the classes for Journalists or Jewish Communal Professionals? We've got those, too!
Wednesday, September 30, 2009: Working Vocabulary
Get all of the terms people use to talk about social media defined and lay the foundation for working in the space.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009: Search & RSS
Do you always turn to Google and MSN when you're looking for information online? In this session, you'll learn about a variety of search engines and get your search skills tuned up. After that, Leah will teach you how to automate searches using RSS.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009: Twitter
The micro-blogging site seems to be in the news every week, but why do people really use it and how can it help you build relationships, find sources and connect with your readers?
Wednesday, October 21: Blogs
While blogs are starting to feel like old media to some people, the easy to update platform is still relevant and useful. We'll cover finding blogs, writing your own blog and comparing different blogging platforms.
Wednesday, October 28, 2009: Facebook and LinkedIn
These aren't the only two social networks, but are two of the most popular for professionals to use to connect with the people that are in their rolodex.
Wednesday, November 4, 2009: Photo and Video
Flickr, YouTube, Ustream and Qik - how can you use photo and video to add to stories and document life on the go?
