I am desperate for a solid night of sleep. I want to go to bed before midnight and sleep solidly until 8:00 or 9:00 AM in the morning. I want to not have a fire alarm, loud residents, or other bizarre incident to wake me up in the middle of the night.
I never thought I would say it, but I can’t wait for the students to move back in, so we can have some peace and quiet. In other news, a group of Milikin students is staying here this weekend. Two Kappa Sigs and a Tri Delt–it was so good to talk to alumni and current MU students. Mainly we lamented the demise of Study Abroad at Millikin under the hands of the interim president. Professors were not replaced in certain departments, such as finance, languages, and political science. And students who are studying in the small town of Decatur, have lost the important opportunity to learn and live in another culture.
I advised them to let the Alumni Department know how displeased they are with Millikin at the moment. I am incredibly loyal to my Alma Mater, but very disappointed by the decisions of the board before Zemke became president. I hope other Millikin Alumni will make their feelings known to the university, while I still beleive the University needs and deserves alumni support–it is hard to support a university that looks nothing like the one I graduated from in 1999.
