I’m disappointed to learn from my colleague Dan Santow that ‘female’ is now preferred over ‘woman.’ As in officially preferred by the AP style guide. I personally HATE HATE HATE when men say they are looking for females. It’s so scientific, woman is much more warm, loving and friendly. Female is just parts, woman is soul.

Which, for whatever random reason, makes me think of the scene in Say Anything. “Don’t be a guy Lloyd, be a man.” I’m not looking for a male companion and hope that whatever man I end up for isn’t looking for a nice female. Meh. Woman, lady, girl, chicky poo, bird… all preferable in my mind to female.
