Holy Cow!
I have been told that there are nights when the door stretches to the door. I have never ACTUALLY worked one of those nights, but am now a veteran. We had a line to the door for at least 30 minutes, if not an hour. Just cycling people through, begging for patience, running for more chocolate ice cream, more hot fudge, more bananas, more ice.
I ran as the “bar back” for a while, then John came in and was the bar back. If you are familiar with how a bar works–there are bartenders and bar backs. The bar back cleans dishes, stocks the fridge, moves the glasses, but doesn’t interact with the customers. I find it incredibly helpful to have someone operate as the bar back at the ice cream parlor. Cleaning the blender, grabbing more ice cream, running to Jewel. .. everthing…
Now I’m going to take a shower and go get some enchilades.
