How do you know all this stuff?

Tonight I was belting the closing song at shabbat services. Why not? I’d been pretty half hearted with the prayers tonight and pretty unfocused the whole night. But the song moved me and I know the words.

A friend sitting two rows up turned around and asked, “How do you know all this stuff?”

Um… well, I’ve been coming around since December of 2004, I’ve been a Jew a while now… I have a decent memory, the songs are simple… but maybe, just maybe, it was also already in my soul and I know it from before.
