Learning to Meditate

When it comes down to it, I don’t suppose I’ve ever really meditated. I consider certain Jewish prayers to have meditative properties. When I’m really unplugged and walking, that is meditative for me. Certain repetitive small physical tasks – washing dishes, painting walls, folding paper – meditative.

But as far as a meditation practice or doing guided meditations… not so much.

That ended this week when I took a short workshop with Billy Pacholski. Billy is a client of Natiiv Arts & Media, a college friend and a gifted clairvoyent. After an intense year of study, he is now doing aura readings, energy healings and teaching other people how to meditate. He offered a workshop for bloggers this week and specifically focused on how to clear and replenish the energy we expend online.

Think about it.

I got my first real email address in 1995, but had been online since 1992 or 1993 when I discovered how to Telnet into IDEAnet. Probably a dozen email addresses later, five years of blogging, 25,000 tweets, countless emails, comments, online profiles… I’ve spent a lot of energy creating and commenting. I’ve taken on a lot of energy from other people who have read, commented, judged and clicked.

During the 3 guided meditations we learned how to ground ourselves, how to stay open during the meditation and then we started working on clearing the old energy. Much of what happened was deeply personal, so I’m not going to go into the details of the work, but I will say that Billy did an amazing job leading the workshop, teaching us new skills and keeping the space safe.

I learned a lot and felt different the next day. A few lingering relationships were cleared up and I finally felt like I was “over” it. I felt lighter, refreshed and slept like the dead that night.

Billy has a two day workshop coming up next weekend on April 4 and 5th that is still welcoming registrations. He does aura readings, which are quite amazing (yes, I’ve had one) and energy healings. He is also blogging and podcasting. The man is doing great things and if you start working with him now, you’ll be able to say “I knew him when….”

Oh! This was important for me. You don’t have to sit on the floor. You get to sit in a chair. I was so relieved about that. Also, the room is free of allergy inducing incense or strong smells. Toss your preconceived ideas out the window and take a class with him.
