Not Necessary, really.

I have loads of friends who are diabetic and insulin dependant. Over the years, they have ranged from the “my duty is to make you comfortable around needles and will do so by injecting my insulin at the table” to the polite “I’ll be back in a minute, I have to go shoot-up in the privacy of the restroom” to “insulin? what insulin?”

Today on the bus I watched a diabetic Cubs fan of about 18-21 years of age take his insulin on the bus.

Is that necessary? or safe? I watched him do it, he thought nobody noticed he was doing it. Maybe I’m tuned in, but come on. You shouldn’t use needles on public transportation, unless you are really going to go into shock, in which case inform some of the strangers.

But taking insulin on the bus? I’m going to vote you off the bus.
