The Shipping News

There is a clock radio in my bedroom, tuned to BBC4 radio, tuned by the man who lived in the apartment before me.

At 1:00 AM, just before the station goes off for the night, just just before “God Save the Queen,” is the shipping news. A serene man reads the reports of what ships are expected to dock during the night and where they will be docking. Then he continues and reports the wind and visibility for all the waters around England, Ireland, and Scotland.

It’s almost as good as Dr. Drew, actually, it might be better than Dr. Drew.
