Bat Mitzvah Planning

I’m not even jewish yet, but my cantor is already talking to me about my bat mitzvah. Not just me–but a few other Jews By Choice and some others who weren’t Bar or Bat Mitzvahed when they were 12/13. It is a B’nai Mitzvah class. Bat Mitzvah means “Daughter of the Commandments.”

So our classes start in November for a March B’nai (B’nei?) Miztvah service. We’ll each get our own torah portion, but will all read on the same shabbat. I mentioned this and the Israel trip to Ronnie last night. He suggested I wait to go to Israel as a Bat Mitzvah gift to myself. I say that I can go to Israel as a conversion gift to myself. Regardless–this girl is going to Israel in 2006.

Obviously if we were talking, Ronnie is home from Israel so I can be done worrying about his safety all day and just worry when he’s driving to/from work. Comforting that he claims his commute is more dangerous than Israel. Granted–when I’m there, nobody need worry, I’ll be fine. Please forgot my two weeks of fretting.
