Checking out Chicago comedy again.

I have taken advantage of the time off to go back to some old haunts. Sunday night I went to the Wise Fool’s Pub. Not exactly an old haunt, but True Pilsner (an improv group) used to host an open mike at Tequila’s and that was an old haunt. So the people were there, but the place was different. I got to play catch up with a few, but missed their set.

Last night I went to the Lyon’s Den for open mike. I was kind of thinking I would get on stage. I put my name in around 7:45PM. When the lottery was done, of the 47 comics there before 8PM, I got slot 47. Mixed with the fact that my pen ran out of ink while I was writing–all signs pointed to not going on stage.

I wasn’t disappointed and didn’t try to trade. It might be a part of my past, I might be done with stand-up.
