Es sensual, no es sexual

When I was in La Plata, Argentina, we took the obligatory tango lessons. Carlos Ochoa, our instructor, told us the Tango es sensual, no es sexual. It is a sensual dance, not a sexual dance. It is a dance based on the hug.

Tonight I was told that I am sensual, not sexual. I’m not certain if that means that I surpass or don’t reach a mark on a ladder. It was part of what I term a pre-emptive break-up. I outlined pre-emptive break-ups a couple years ago as a stand up comic. Looking at a guy, deciding what the reason for the break-up would be, and then not dating because of this reason.

A pre-emptive break-up.

I have to think more about the conversation, but I just kept thinking about Carlos Ochoa, in the ballroom of the ExJockey Club in La Plata. El Tango es sensual, no es sexual.
