Huge fire… Historic Church (Former Synagogue) now gone.

In the upper floors of the AON building today, there was a flurry of activity. Word spread and folks came to the south side of the building to look out our windows. We were watching a huge fire. From our vantage point, it looked like the top of a highrise was on fire. In truth, it was the Pilgrim Baptist Church at 33 and Indiana.

If my camera phone was capable of taking a decent photo like that, I would have a photo to share. It was terrible, we’d never seen flames like we saw today. It was completely engulfed and we watched at least one explosion.

So far, there is no word on injuries or death. I’ll certainly be including their congregation in our prayers tonight at shul. I can’t imagine watching your place of worship go up in flames.
