A good friend is off to Israel in a couple days. As bad as I want to go, I realized today that I am worried about his safety while he is there. What with the vote in Lebanon, the planning for pulling out of the Gaza strip, Condie Rice rolling around the middle east and chatting up world leaders.
So I sent him a text. “If 1 is my concern for your daily commute and 10 is total panic, what level of worry should I be at for your trip to Israel?” He called and said that I should worry more about his daily commute than this trip.
“It’s like saying don’t go to your grandmother’s house on a quiet street in Lincoln Park, because they are rioting in Gary, Indiana.”
Okay. I’ll do what I can and not worry.
