People will stand in the kitchen.

It doesn’t matter that my living room and kitchen are the same space, at last nights party–everyone hung out in the kitchen. Or close to the kitchen on the other side of the counter. And by labeling the part as from 6PM to 9PM, I did (indeed) stop it from going until three in the morning. I said goodbye to my last guests at 2:30 in the morning.

But by 2:30 all the wine (and some) had been drunk. All of the cheese had been eaten. All of the apples and strawberries. All of the soda.

A good time was had by all, I think. The guy in the next cubicle came and brought three friends. He is very social and not afraid to talk to strangers–so they mixed and mingled. About 5 ot 6 people from my building came, which was nice to get to know people better.

My isreali bazooka Joe gum stash got depleted in an impromptu–who can chew more gum competition between two of my girlfriends. That had me nearly peeing my pants laughing. Definitely a “you had to be there” moment.

But now I need coffee pretty desperately, so I’m going to leave the dishwasher to do its thing and go to Metropolis.
